The kick-off meeting of the European project ELEXAI (European Lexicographic Infrastructure for Artificial Intelligence) took place in Ljubljana, Slovenia, on June 3–5, 2026, marking the official launch of the project’s activities.
The project, coordinated by the Jožef Stefan Institute, brings together 26 organizations from across Europe, including universities, research centers, language data infrastructures, and specialized organizations in the fields of lexicography and language technologies. The "Athena" Research Centre participates in the project as a partner, contributing to the implementation of its goals and activities.
ELEXAI project aims to develop and strengthen the European infrastructure ELEXIS through the use of advanced Artificial Intelligence technologies, with a focus on creating, interlinking, and exploiting high-quality lexicographic and linguistic resources.
During the kick-off meeting, the partners presented their activities and discussed the project implementation framework, technical priorities, and anticipated synergies among the participating organizations. The meeting served as the first step towards shaping a common collaborative strategy aimed at developing innovative tools and services that will enhance the use of language data in research, lexicography, and Artificial Intelligence applications.
